JYJ Snowman Tree is Up

The holidays are just around the corner and in true JYJ fashion we are always willing to help others. The JYJ Snowman Tree is up and located in the front office. Very similar to an angel tree that other places use, "snowmen" are located on the tree with info on needed items for children. Please be sure to wrap your gift items and place the number (snowman card off the tree) when you return the gifts back to school. Gifts can be returned to Mr. Knott's office. Congrats to JYJ Spotlight on Student-Samuel Danquah!

Congratulations to Samuel Danquah a 5th grade student in Mrs. Nathlie Smith's class on being selected as JYJ's Spotlight on Students.  Each year students from each school are recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in and outside of the classroom during a WCPSS school board meeting.  Superintendent Tata presented Samuel with a plaque for his hard work and determination.  Congrats Samuel!  See pictures below of the recognition ceremony.

JYJ Character Ed shown

Once again, our JYJ students are showing off their knowledge of exhibiting character education traits.  See Spot Read, is a program which allows students to practice their reading skills while reading to everyone's favorite friend....a dog!  I saw our students reading and showing outstanding character education traits such as: being respectful and showing kindness to the dogs and their owners, showing responsibility by coming on time to the library, displaying courage by reading aloud to the dog and showing self-discipline by focusing on reading and not playing with the dog and ignoring distractions.  Way to go JYJ, continue to show your character ed both inside and outside of school.

Courage Reading List
